“What is the pass rate for my exam?” “What is the average score?” “What are the odds of an industry newbie passing the first time?” (As Hans Solo said, “Never tell me the odds!”)
These and similar questions constantly haunt the individual preparing for a grueling licensing exam. However, these questions don’t properly frame the premise, “How can I be confident that I’ll pass on this attempt?”
The answer is surprisingly simple, but not easy: Follow the instruction of a high-caliber exam prep program exactly. To the “T.” Consult that program’s syllabus and execute each step thoroughly, in chronological order. This profundity is easily stated, yet requires discipline.
For one thing, it just feels like a no-brainer to pick and choose only what we like. Plus it’s human nature to seek shortcuts.
However, to quote a wise Jedi master,
“… if you choose the quick and easy path as Vader did, you will become an agent of evil.”
Loosely paraphrased, when we graze parts we like from several vendors, skip over topics and (sometimes) return later, cut straight to the practice exams, or simply memorize the answers to a 1,000-question database, we usually cross to the Dark Side (a failing score). And, FIRE’s mind-reading Jedi masters know when their fool-proof plan has been blatantly ignored, mildly followed, or heaved into a galaxy far, far away.
Alas, there is no magic bullet to mastering the content on a challenging exam. But adhering to a study plan designed by subject matter experts and adult learning specialists is the fastest, most efficient route to a passing score. And at FIRE Solutions, each of our exam prep courses contains a clear syllabus that illuminates this route.
To further quote Yoda, “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger; anger leads hate; hate leads to suffering.” Yes, the FINRA exams potentially lead to fear, anger, and suffering, but only if we fail to follow the master plan that has proven results.
